Her wedding dress train glided, a cortege of red and blue winged grasshoppers flew, the cigales sang and happiness reigned as the bride, smilling with all the joy of this special day, arrived at Le Mas de La Cigale Bleue.

After the radiant young couple had left for the reception, quite unknown to them, members of the family returned to strew petals in the room, shells and glittering sand decorated the whole room, the bathroom, the stairway……… A festive, joyous atmosphere radiated throughout this beautiful room, to welcome the newly weds on the first night of their married life together.

Next morning, serenaded by a musician, singing and playing a tender Mexican love song, the young couple’s breakfast was carried to them on a silver tray. Smiles and tears of joy mixed in the perfect emotion of joy that is theirs. There, in the peace and intimacy of their nuptial room, they shared their first breakfast as a married couple.

The Cigales are here!!!! As June draws to an end, blue shutters close as the sunshine brightens the landscape and the days are the longest, the long awaited, 7 year chrysalis phase of their life cycle reaches its end – and for a few brief months, these ephemeral, fascinating insects camouflage themselves on the trees ……. and sing their love song – for as long as the temperatures stay high enough.

Lorsque la nymphe est prête, elle sort de terre, grimpe sur un tronc et effectue sa dernière mue. Une petite cigale toute verte sort de son ancienne carapace. Elle se sèche au soleil et en deux heures, devient grise et peut prendre son envol !

Bonne chance petite cigale, et égaille nous de ton chant !
